DESCRIPTION
The 2020 America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set™ - Weir Farm National Historic Site is the second of five sites to be honored in 2020 and 52nd overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Weir Farm National Historic Site in Connecticut includes a 60-acre cultural landscape consisting of 15 historic structures, including houses, barns, studios and outbuildings. The artistic tradition at Weir Farm is kept alive through a variety of “Art in the Park” programs, including an artist-in-residence program, free art supplies, painting nights, and art lessons.
This reverse (tails) design depicts an artist wearing a painter's smock painting outside Julian Alden Weir's studio at Weir Farm. The design was inspired by several images from Weir's studio and paintings created on the property, as well as Weir and his fellow artists' descriptions of their creative inspiration in the rural setting. At the bottom right the description “A NATIONAL PARK FOR ART” appears. The inscriptions are "WEIR FARM", "CONNECTICUT", "2020" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM".
Each three-coin set features one Philadelphia Mint Uncirculated Quarter, one Denver Mint Uncirculated Quarter, and one San Francisco Mint Proof Quarter. The coins are housed on a durable plastic card that features a picturesque image and brief description of the site and coin, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity on the back of the card.
