TRANSNISTRIA 2014 series - 4 plastic coins
This territory became a pioneer in the use of new materials in the issuance of currency. The Bank of the Republic of Transnistria then announced, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the launch of its own ruble, that it was putting coins made of a composite or plastic material into circulation. These are issues worth 1, 3, 5 and 10 rubles that were apparently developed in Russia. Although they are very reminiscent of casino chips or table games, they are resistant and rough to the touch. As you can see in the images, they have different geometric shapes and colors:
They react to ultraviolet light
- 1 ruble: yellow and round (26 mm.)
- 3 rubles: green and square (26 mm.)
- 5 rubles: blue and pentagonal (28 mm.)
