This sterling silver medal is dedicated to Cantabria, a uniprovincial autonomous community that has its emblematic capital in the city of Santander.
This thriving region is located on the Cantabrian coast, in the north of the peninsula. It is a mountainous and coastal territory, which has an important natural and historical heritage. In fact, the first written reference to the region dates back to 195 BC. C., by the Roman historian Cato the Elder.
On the obverse the regional shield is shown in which, under a royal crown, a crenellated tower can be seen at the top next to a natural nave and at the bottom a discoidal stele typical of the region.
The crowned M, CECA mark of the Royal Mint, is represented on the reverse.
