This comic was created on October 29, 1959 by the writer René Goscinny and the artist Albert Uderzo. Throughout the albums, the series presents the adventures of the inhabitants of the famous little village of Armorique made up of irreducible Gauls. After 36 world-famous adventures, the main hero, the favorite French Gaul, is already celebrating his 60th birthday!
The obverse depicts Asterix in profile wearing his famous winged helmet. It is surrounded by laurels and Roman inscriptions referring to its 60 years. The year 2019 and the mention of RF (representing République Française) are also on the obverse.
The reverse is the same as all common €2 coins, similar to all Eurozone countries.
