€10 FRANCE 2021 - Alpha Jet
- Coins designed in collaboration with Romain Hugault, famous comic book author.
- Tribute to the airplanes that have marked History
- The Alpha Jet, an iconic aircraft of the Patrouille de France.
In 2021, Monnaie de Paris highlights the Alpha Jet, a Franco-German creation (Dassault-Breguet / Dornier), intended for training or ground attack. It has equipped the Patrouille de France since 1981 and is one of the five aircraft that have marked the history of the Patrouille de France; contributed to the influence of the French Air Force throughout the world. It is on the occasion of the 40 years of the Alpha Jet within the Patrouille de France but also its 90 years that we decided to put them both in honor.
The obverse shows an Alpha Jet in flight. In the background, several planes can be seen in formation. The words "40 YEARS OF ALPHA JET 1981-2021" refer to the date when the Alpha Jet replaced the Fouga Magister in the Patrouille de France.
For the first time in the Aviation and History series, the face of the silver denominations is colored with the blue, white and red colors of the French flag on the plane and on the feather left in the sky.
The reverse , common to the series, presents the profiles of two pilots, symbolizing the different eras and types of use: civil and military. In the sky there are several aircraft, also representative of the different eras and uses, in homage to the history of aviation. The face value is inscribed at the bottom left of the reverse, as is the "RF" symbol.
