The structure of the obverse is common to all countries in the Europa Star programme, it features a star, taken from the logo.
This year's theme and the name of the issuing country are inscribed in a circular arc. In the center of the obverse, we can find the national element. The goddess Europa wears floating flags. The date and new markings appear on the bottom of the coin.
The reverse highlights the Renaissance era with three key symbols: Francois Ist, the last symbol of the Renaissance in France, Leonardo da Vinci with two of his masterpieces, the Vitruvian Man and the flying machine. The lower part shows the castle of Amboise, where da Vinci was laid to rest.
