D-Day coins celebrate the incredible military operation that took place on June 6, 1944. Troops from 11 allied countries combined their forces to establish a formidable bridgehead on French soil. This coin is a true tribute to the different forces involved (naval, air, land) and to all the countries that have officially participated in this great “adventure”.
The obverse represents the different types of military operations that took place on June 6, 1944 around the mention DDAY (written with the American, British, Free French and Canadian flag) 75. In the foreground, a Dakota flies over the entire obverse, symbolically sporting USAF and RAF cockades, accompanied by Spitfire and Mustang fighters. The coin is dotted with paratroopers and other small aircraft symbolizing air operations. In the center, ground forces leave the barges.
