Description:
This coin celebrates the garrison church of Saints Peter and Paul, which was built in the early 17th century and is now one of the sacred and iconic places in Lviv. This baroque building, located in the historical part of the city of Lviv, is its largest church. The building, which has witnessed many events and at different times served as the city's garrison church, a warehouse and a bookstore, began operating as a church again in 2011. During the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict in the east of Ukraine, the church became a place where Ukrainian soldiers are prayed for and where funerals are held for soldiers killed in the Joint Forces Operation. It has also begun to be used as a museum and volunteer center.
