This coin commemorates an ancient city, which has a rich history, and which is located in the Poltava oblast on the Lokhvytsia River. The city was first mentioned in historical sources in 1320 as an ancient Rus settlement in the Pereiaslav territories. In the middle of the 17th century, the city received Magdeburg rights and a coat of arms. During the national liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people, the Cossack community of Lokhvytsia (Sotnia) participated in many battles as part of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi's army.
