| The coin
commemorates the centenary of the birth of Yakiv Yakovych HNIZDOVSKYI
(aka Jacques Hnizdovsky, Jakub Gniazdowski, Jakiv Hnizdovskij), a
outstanding teacher of visual arts in the Ukrainian diaspora, painter and
graphic artist, sculptor, art historian and critic, a teacher
of multifaceted talent having an innovative approach to creative work, which has resurrected the art of wood carving. He
multiple and extremely rich artistic heritage of this master
singular, which includes hundreds of pictorial and graphic works,
woodcuts, sculptural compositions, tapestries, interesting works
of research in the history of the arts, has enriched the treasure
of Ukrainian and world art. |

Reverse : Yakiv Hnizdovskyi's work `Self-Portrait` (1981) is depicted in the center; to
on the left is the inscription of years of his life 1915/1985, below

right).
