€10 FRANCE 2023 - Le Mans Centenary 24 hours
100 years after the first edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the world's largest endurance race celebrates 100 years of excitement, speed and performance. To commemorate this centenary, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to this legendary competition by creating a completely new trophy for the occasion and minting a collection of gold and silver coins.
He obverse This collectible coin features two racing cars on a 24-hour clock. The reverse polish on the top of the coin distinguishes between day and night, providing additional contrast and reading depth. The headlights of the vehicle that circulates at night illuminate the "100" of the 24H of the centenary of Mans, while illuminating the path beyond this edition of the competition.
In it reverse We find two portraits of drivers facing each other. The face on the left suggests a driver from the early 20th century, participating in the first edition of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's endurance grand prix, while the face on the right shows the evolution of a century of motorsport. The layout of the 24H circuit acts here as a mirror, a window that opens to the past but also to the future.
Conceived and manufactured entirely in France, these coins were designed by Joaquín Jiménez, General Engraver of the Monnaie de Paris, also author of the creation of the centenary trophy of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
