Obverse of the coin shows an important part of the work of art. Van Gogh's portrait is in the foreground and appears on the right side of the coin. The bottom edge of the painting features a view of the Musee d'Orsay façade that appears to be the Seine, where the artwork is kept. The title of the artwork and the name of the artist are inscribed on the left side of the frame. The "Museum Masterpieces" stamp has been added below the inscriptions on the left. The 2020 annual date can be seen below to the right of the artist's portrait.
Reverse is common to the series, it shows a mix of some views of French museums.
