The
Greek Revolution, was the armed conflict started by the
Greek revolutionaries in 1821 against the rule of the Ottoman Empire.
The
Greeks were subjected to 400 years of slavery and darkness from
of the fall of Constantinople in the year 1453 into the hands of the Empire
Ottoman. Stripped of the most basic human rights, they had to
face the loss of man's greatest attribute: freedom.
The socio-political changes that took place in the world at the end of the
18th century acted as a trigger and multiplied on the oppressed
Hellenic people Thus, on March 25, 1821, which marks the beginning of the
revolution, was the day in which the Greek people changed their destiny
of submission and slavery, turning their struggle into a milestone in their history.
After
of 400 years of slavery, Greece managed to break the chains and inserted itself
again on the map of the free nations of the world.
