On the occasion of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Monnaie de Paris pays tribute to these renowned international competitions through a collection that honors sport, its value, the athletes but also the heritage of the host country. Olympism and Paralympism are celebrated.
The Olympic collection is not only about sport, but also about the heritage of the host country. Particularly for this edition, the games will take place in the heart of the city, so the iconic places of Paris will be highlighted.
In 2022, the Sacré-Coeur Basilica of Montmartre will be presented. Located on top of a mound, the Basilica dominates the city. Its dome rises more than 200 meters above the Seine River, it is the highest point in Paris after the Eiffel Tower.
The reverse of the series shows a view of Paris where the Seine looks like an athletics track. The Eiffel Tower dominates the city and illuminates the competition.
