NIUE ISLANDS AMBER SERIES
"Ambar" enjoys a very popular series of beautiful collector coins minted by the Polish Mint on behalf of the issuer from the island of Niue. The stamps in this series are inlaid with amber and little effort. The coins commemorate the main cities through which the ancient route of trade links ran between the Mediterranean countries of Europe and the lands located on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea. Trail owes its name to the expeditions organized mainly in amber. The first expedition to the ancient subject of trade took place in the 5th century BC
The exact course of the route has not been clearly defined, it is understood that it ran through Kaliningrad, Gda?sk, Elblag, Wroclaw, Old Hradisko, Szombathely, Carnuntum, Aquileia.
REVERSE : At the top of the coin, the Breslau town hall, which is the most recognizable symbol of the city. Below it, the left - Roman coin from the times of the amber trace, which was found in the vicinity of Wroclaw, and next to it, the amber insert. On the left side of the coin - sculpture of a knight with a sword and a spear with the elevation of the Town Hall. At the top, along the edge, semicircular words in Polish: amber. At the top, the inscription "Wroc?aw".
OBVERSE : In the center of the coin, a stylized image of the carriage, in which the amber was carried by the Romans on the route from the Baltic Sea to Italy. For the basket on the left side, a stylized image of the Roman head. On the background of a stylized map is the outline of the Baltic Sea. At the top, along the edge, semicircular AMBER TRAIL inscription. Below, semicircular inscription: NIUE ISLAND, above it, Face value: $1. The image of Queen Elizabeth II and the mint mark (MW), located on the left side of the basket. To the right is an inscription of the head of Queen Elizabeth II and, below, the year of publication: 2009.
